Ravical secures $17m to help accounting firms break the link between growth and headcount
As AI reshapes the economics of accounting and makes knowledge available to anyone, Ravical believes competitive advantage will shift to firms that make their expertise a firm-wide asset and deploy it at scale across their client base.
London, UK, 29 October 2026: Ravical, the AI platform accounting and tax firms run on, today announced a $17m seed funding round led by MMC Ventures, with participation from existing investors Lakestar and Pitchdrive and new investor Shapers. More than 100 accounting firms across Europe already build on Ravical. The company will use the funding to strengthen its position in the UK, Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany, continue its roll-out across the rest of Europe and enter the US.
Accounting firms have always grown by hiring more people and selling what those people know, but that model is under pressure. Demand for accounting and advisory work keeps rising, while fewer graduates are entering the profession and experienced staff are harder to find. At the same time, AI can now do much of the work that used to need a person, and expert knowledge is only a search away for clients and competitors alike. Ravical’s own research found that 70 per cent of UK SMEs now act on AI advice without even consulting their accountant.
What still sets an accounting firm apart is its own expertise: how its best people judge, advise and deliver. In most firms, that expertise sits with individuals and reaches only the clients they serve.
Ravical was founded by Joris Van Der Gucht (CEO), Ken Bastiaensen (CTO) and Benjamin Vandermarliere (CPO). Joris previously co-founded Silverfin, the cloud platform used by more than 1,000 accounting firms across 18 countries.
Joris Van Der Gucht, CEO of Ravical, said: “AI is changing what clients expect from their accountants, and firms are becoming more proactive and strategic than ever before. Our role is to help them get there. Every firm will use AI, so the real question is who controls it. When every employee uses their own assistant in their own way, the individual gets better, but the firm doesn’t. We turn how a firm’s best people work into a shared way of working that AI carries out across every client. Firm leadership sees every opportunity and risk across the client base, so the firm wins more work from the clients it already has.”
Mina Samaan, General Partner at MMC Ventures, said: “Accounting hasn’t yet seen the same transformative moment that legal tech has, with firms like Harvey and Legora demonstrating what’s possible. Most of the AI startups we’ve met in the space are building point solutions for a single task or workflow. We don’t believe the winners will be the firms that replace their people. Rather, they’ll be the ones that make their best people count across every client. That’s what Ravical is built for. More than 100 firms are already on the platform, which is the clearest sign yet that the profession is starting to change. We feel very fortunate to have found Joris, Ken and Benjamin, and we’re delighted to be backing them as they continue to expand into new markets.”
Ravical customer quotes
Blick Rothenberg, UK | Jim Brown, Partner
”We chose to partner with Ravical because they understand the industry. Their approach goes much further than pure process automation, taking the whole client relationship into account and bringing the impact of AI to the whole firm.”
Gascoynes, UK | Chris Reeve, Owner
“Complex tax work like inheritance tax and R&D claims used to go out to specialists. Now our own team does it. Our tax planning fees are up 49% year on year, and almost all of it from clients we already had. It’s work we simply wouldn’t have taken on before.”
Barrons, UK | Gary Raven, Managing Director
"Ravical lets more people at our firm prepare the work, so clients no longer wait for one person holding their file, while our qualified specialists still review everything that goes out."
Facet, NL | Arnoud Brouwer, Partner
“With Ravical we look across the entire client base and see which clients would benefit from advice they have not asked for yet, from a financing worth revisiting to a change in the law. That means more services for the clients we already have, without needing more clients to grow.”
Hein Koning, NL | Tom Koning, Owner
“Ravical works from our own systems: the CRM, the financial software, our databases. An answer to a client is built on their actual figures and history, so every adviser works from the same picture of the client. The quality of the advice we send out has gone up, and we notice it every day.”
WEA Gouda, NL | Sijbrand Stevens, Partner
“Review quality no longer depends on how much time is left. Ravical checks every file to the firm’s standard and points us straight to what needs attention.”
Titeca, BE | Jurka Vanthournout, CEO
“Senior review used to be limited by how many files one person could get through. With Ravical, every file gets the same level of review, whichever office it sits in.”
ACS, BE | Bert Clymans, Partner
“Our reviews and quality checks run themselves in the background and land ready for sign-off. What our best people used to do is increasingly becoming the standard for the whole firm.”
V&M, BE | Kjell Nauwelaerts, Partner
"Ravical takes over the preparatory work, so our whole team can handle tasks that used to sit with the partner. That lets us grow our client base without growing our headcount at the same pace."
